How it all started was by doing my sister's hair and that of her friend's for the Jr. High dances. To be the "it girl" was trending, and looking fashion-forward was becoming competitive. For the entire look to be complete, I needed to do their makeup as well.
Repetition is the mother of all skill, so by the time I was in high school, I began building a clientele throughout my community. The more I practiced, the more comfortable I became.
After my first experience with hair color, I began my adventure in becoming a "kitchen beautician". I spent years using box dye to try to create hair magic. It was a hit or miss half of the time; there were some happy discoveries, and there were some crocodile tears shed from the agony of defeat.
The more I dabbled in hair coloring and lightening from home without the proper education, the more it inspired me to support myself with education so I could be consistent with predictable results.
Finally, I took the leap of faith and enrolled in Paul Mitchell the School Phoenix to further my education with the beauty industry. This lead to my taking down the rearview mirror because there's not going to be anymore looking back.
