Ashley Pickens

Currently, I’m a Student with The Salon Professional Academy. Before that I was a stay at home mom for 9 years. I’m originally from Houston, but after traveling with my husband and family for work, we decided to settle in Denton, Texas. It was at that point that I decided to pursue what I’ve always wanted to do; hair. Honestly, it’s in my blood. Both sets of my grandparents (mom and dad’s side) met doing hair, and owned their own salons. I wanted to take Cosmo in high school, but my mom thought she was doing the right thing by saying no. Fast forward to 2011, I was weeks away from starting cosmetology school, and then I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I decided to not go through with it. In February of this year, the time felt right, and I enrolled with TSPA. I feel more myself than I’ve ever felt in my life. I love all of it; even down to the perms and roller sets. I can’t wait to see what God does with what he’s called me to!
