At the tender age of 14 I discovered a passion that has guided the rest of my life. Even then my creative expressions on my first clients took them “from drab to fab” and I’ve committed to creating that feeling ever since. With humble beginnings in my grandmother’s kitchen, I mimicked the things I saw hairstylists do to the women in my life and quickly found that styling came natural to me. Adolescent with braids and cornrows, I would watch and study my hairstylist and how she would section and braid my hair, I would then go back and try it on my family and friends. After obtaining my degree in Biology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, I dedicated my focus to pursuing my cosmetology license through an apprenticeship. I earned my cosmetology operators license then went on to become a Senior Cosmetologist, this licensure allows me to educate an apprentice as they train for their own cosmetology license and “pay it forward.” The ability to educate is imperative to me, as a Senior Cosmetologist I have hosted several workshops and private trainings to both industry professionals and individuals who need assistance styling and braiding their family and friends. I began with natural styles, braiding techniques, roller sets and blow outs however, hair color became my niche. Hair coloring techniques have allowed me to tie my scientific background with my love and knowledge of hair as I understand the processes in depth. My clients lovingly refer to me as “The Color Wizard” because of the vibrance of the colors I am able to achieve while maintaining the integrity of the hair is magical. As a 9 year professional in the cosmetology industry, I am comfortable with all textures of hair and use my styling sessions to not only create a signature look but to educate my clients on the processes they are going through, proper upkeep and the versatility their particular style may have. To me, an informed client is the best client and I make it my mission to emphasize the importance of meshing what happens in the salon to their home care routines.
