Why I'm here

I've always been interested in Cosmetology. I'm so proud of myself to be able to now vision my future accomplish and manifest my dreams and goals. For the longest time i had that persuasive voice inside my head that held me back. It held me back from diving into my opportunities. I overcame that by journaling, writing down the successes i've had and how i've overcame those obstacles. Helping me remember the positive things. I've also had many other obstacles i've overcame such as lack of confidence, low self esteem and overthinking. My lack of confidence and low self esteem destroyed me inside because I saw myself as an adequate, incompetent and an unworthy person. But how I overcame that was by accepting myself and learning to be my own best friend. Accepting myself the way I am. I overcame "not believing in myself". My motivation to pursue a career in the beauty industry is mainly because of my grandmother. She is someone i look up to, admire and see a role model. I love and appreciate her so much that all i want to do is make her proud. My grandmother is from Dominican Republic. She moved to the US knowing little to no English. She went to cosmetology school in New York. She took classes knowing no English. She was very lucky to have a women who sat by her that was Bilingual. The women was very sweet / nice and she understood my grandmothers struggle. She would write down the notes they were taught in Spanish and would give it to my grandma. My grandma would copy it down and study extra hard over them. She was determined. Eventually when it came down to take the state board test she passed on her first try! As time passed by she owned a hair salon in Manhattan, New York and another one in Queens, New York. My grandmother is A huge inspiration in my life and I want to follow her foot steps.
