Ashley Furay

I am 32 years old, chef extraordinaire for a living and mother to two girls. I love to create in probably almost every way you can think of, from beauty to home renovation, decorating to sewing & crafting, cooking and much more.

My cosmetology journey actually began about 15 years ago when I was in high school. I was doing hair, makeup and nails since the age of 13 and decided to join the cosmetology program at our local vocational school. I thoroughly enjoyed learning everything I did, but unfortunately ended up discouraged about following this dream as a career and made a switch before finishing the program. I had my first child a year later and didn't think more schooling was an option. 

I decided to start cosmetology school again about 6 years ago, got about halfway through and life majorly got in the way. I was in the middle of trying to switch schools, then my husband at the time was very ill and in and out of the hospital for a while and I found out we were about to have our second child. I had unenrolled in order to enroll at a different school when I realized my work schedule at the time wouldn't work with school, so I stayed unenrolled and thought for sure becoming a stylist was out of the equation for me.

It wasn't until this past summer that I went to visit my stylist friend of mine and found out she was looking to hire, and I found myself once again wishing I had my liscense. This sparked just enough of a fire in me to realize I still wanted to to follow my dream of becoming a stylist and that it was still possible, so I jumped right in and signed back up for cosmetology school. 

I had no idea how I'd do it but I am so glad I didn't let fear hold me back and am following my dream again and I cannot wait to see what the future holds!
