My name is Nickia, better known as Barbie! I am a current cosmetology student at The Elaine Sterling Institute. I was born in Miami, raised in Atlanta. I began my journey of being a hairstylist 6 years ago when I was 14 years old. I learned how to style and care for my natural hair at the young age of 8.I learned how to do my own hair because i was extremely tender headed and i felt like no one cared for my hair properly. being that i had coarse type 4 hair, it seems its hard to manage but in reality its not, it just takes patience. Saying this to say learning how to take care of my hair created my strong passion of being a hairstylist. i want to show my community that getting your hair done doesnt have to hurt and be uncomfortable. This should be your time to relax and be pampered. My specialties are natural hair, braids, wigs, weaves and many more. I don’t like to put myslef in a box i have a wide spectrum of things i can do. I believe i can do any hairstyle that you show me i love trying new styles and showing my creativity. I think what makes me special is how much i care. One of my goals is to open up my own salon/beauty bar. The experience of my salon will be like no other! Soon I will be your Master Cosmetologist!!!
