I had not ever considered cosmetology as an avenue for me to feel successful. I spent several years (12) in the US Coast Guard as a military medic and always saw myself ending up as a nurse, with a degree. Knowing many aspects of medicine were not what I ultimately wanted out of my career, I battled with that decision. I was then fortunate enough to witness the daily life of a cosmetologist and felt this career choice would encompass many aspects I was looking for in a career and would allow a different side of me to finally shine! Weather I am delivering an amazing shampoo experience, correcting an attempt at home color or creating a new look for the next chapter of my client's life, it is a true privilege to be trusted with the task. I have a service oriented heart with a sincere desire to make others feel better. I find I am the most happy when I am creating, replicating and focused on the details that make up a final product.Currently, I'm in the adaptive phase of my cosmetology education at Imagine-Paul Mitchell School in Norman, Oklahoma. The more guest artist's I am exposed to the more I realize there are possibilities beyond what I had initially imagined. Though color theory, formulation and color correcting are at the top of my priorities while in training I can't imagine a good color without a solid haircut. A solid haircut is not complete without a beautiful style. I want to deliver a tailored mens service even as a cosmetologist. I have discovered face charting is therapeutic and I wonder at the possibilities of being a makeup artist. Brides maybe or even theatre? Yet another avenue for me to explore! I am having FUN while learning, exploring and expanding more of myself while finding my place in this industry. I’m grateful to be in this environment, surrounded by creative, supportive, and empowering people everyday! Thanks for having me!
