Callie Bernardson

Hello, my name is Callie Bernardson. I would like to start by providing you with some information about myself. I grew up in a small town in Elk River Minnesota. My mom would describe me as a loving, outgoing, determined, passionate little girl. Or as I would describe myself very strong-willed. I played multiple sports growing up including hockey, gymnastics, basketball, soccer, and swimming. But the one thing I always Loved was the time I spent doing artwork and styling my sometimes on willing little sisters hair! I am 2019 graduate from Spectrum High School. Which is a technology integrated environment with a focus on college preparation. Spectrum High School was a wonderful charter school that provided me with a great high school education. One thing I realized during high school is that I was extremely passionate in developing relationships with people. This included my peers, teachers, and coaches. I was a captain of my varsity soccer team. With this experience I was able to develop and learn positive motivational and leadership skills. I have been passionate for the arts since I can remember. I was 12 years old when my Dad brought me to my 1st art museum. It was the Minneapolis Institute of arts. I was so in love! What a beautiful way to express emotion. It was amazing for me to see how much beauty was in the world around me. My junior year I became very interested in the art of skin and hair care. I would have friends over all the time for make overs. We would do facials, make up art, and hair Design.This is when I realize I could integrate my passion for Arts into hair and make up. After graduating from high school I enrolled and became a full-time student at Anoka Ramsey. Not knowing what path I was on I wanted to complete my generals. Soon after starting at Anoka Ramsey I realized that the class I was most passionate about was my art course. Which brings me back to a big question, that I had been asking myself. Can I use arts and my love for people to develop a lifetime career? And can I have a career that involves all the things that I am passionate about? When we step back and learn to see the beauty in all things, then we can create beautiful things. After researching and learning about the philosophies and visions of Horst and the Aveda Institute. I know I can do all that and so much more! I am extremely excited to start my career path with a school that has an emphasis on love and learning. A school that not only teaches you the fundamentals of cosmetology, but the love for environment and the people of our world. And a school that is also focus on innovation. I can’t t wait to see what the future holds for me! As a future graduate of the Aveda institute I will be excited to showcase the innovation of arts into the beauty of people! I look forward to a beautiful career in an industry that promotes love learning and innovation!
