About me
Carli Batson is a graduate of Appalachian State University where she earned her BS in Communication, minor in Theatre Arts and served as Co-Captain for the App State Dance Team. That same year, she represented North Carolina at the 100th Anniversary Miss America Competition. She was also honored to be chosen as the 2022 NC Azalea Festival Queen. Through pageantry, Carli promoted her personal initiative, Carolina Cares, which raised over $30,000 for underfunded arts programs in North Carolina. Prior to college, Carli studied at the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York City and was a competitive dancer in the U.S. for almost 10 years. She now finds her creative outlet in Wilmington, North Carolina performing at Historic Thalian Hall (where she met her fiancé, Jon) and teaching advanced ballet at a local dance studio. Being no stranger to the beauty community, Carli decided to extend her education and is attending cosmetology school at the Aveda Institute of Wilmington. She is projected to graduate in 10 months and plans to add hair cut and coloring techniques, makeup education and styling experience to her already successful pageant coaching business, Essentia with Carli.

Essentia (Latin for Essence) has various meanings and uses for different thinkers and in different contexts. A designation for the set of properties or attributes, without which, one would lose its identity.
Carli is based out of her hometown of Wilmington, NC where she is currently obtaining her cosmetology license at the Aveda Institute of Wilmington. Her experience in hair and makeup continues to grow, but is fueled by her many years of pageantry, theater and dance performance. Carli is a perfectionist when it comes to finding your signature look but knows that less is more when it comes to highlighting your natural beauty.
