Be a good person behind closed doors

My name is Caroline Sims and I'm currently 21 years old. I was born on the other side of the world in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan, but was adopted as a baby and grew up in South Carolina.
Hair has always been my love. As a 10 year old girl I was doing prom hair for my sisters friends, and that kept progressing throughout my years in middle and high school. After I graduated high school in 2021, I came to Florida to play lacrosse at Flagler College. I quickly realized college was not the route for me and began attending the Aveda Institute in the fall of 2022. While there, I was selected to participate in the Pro Beauty Association Beacon Student Program and I got to attend my very first NAHA. I remember being in so much awe of the talent and creativity within our industry.
After graduation I was fortunate enough to launch my career at Studio Sage Salon in Jacksonville Beach. I'm very lucky that day to day I get to work with amazing artists such as Erica Keelen and Sarajane Maples. Everyday in our salon is a learning experience and they push me to do things out of my comfort zone to grow and develop as a stylist.

The beauty industry has always been apart of me. Thinking back to when I was so young and loved throwing curls in my friends hair, cutting my American Girl dolls hair and "dyeing it" with sharpie.
My journey took me awhile to figure out, I honestly didn't think I wanted to ever do hair as a career, but once I started school back in 2022 it felt like my whole life was about to change. I love what I get to do more than anything, and that passion is obvious to most people who sit in my chair. Of course I love the client connections made, making people feel good about themselves, but I genuienly love to learn new things. Our industry is constantly changing and growing you have to stay moldable to learn and that is probably my favorite part.
