Be a good person behind closed doors
Be a good person behind closed doors

My name is Caroline Sims, and I'm a 23 year old hairstylist currently based in Florida. I was born in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan, and adopted as a baby before growing up in South Carolina.
I first moved to Florida in 2021 to attend Flagler College and play lacrosse, but it didn't take long for me to realize my passion was leading me in a different direction. In the fall of 2022, I enrolled at the Aveda Institute and officially began my journey in the beauty industry.
While in school, I was selected for the Pro Beauty Associations Beacon Student Program, which gave me the opportunity to attend NAHA for the first time. Being surrounded by so many passionate and creative artists completely shifted my perspective on what this industry could be. It showed me how much artistry, innovation, and individuality exists within hair.
After graduation, I joined the team at Studio Sage, where I've continued to grow behind the chair while learning from mentors who constantly inspire and challenge me. Over the last couple years I've become especially interested in creative and competition based work, and I'm excited to continue evolving as both an artist and a stylist while finding my own voice in the industry.

The beauty industry has always been a part of who I am. Looking back, I was the kid curling my friends hair, cutting my American Girl dolls hair, and "coloring" it with Sharpies. Creativity in this industry found me long before I realized it could become my career.
My journey took some time to figure out. Honestly I didnt think I would pursue hair professionally growing up, but once I started cosmetology school in 2022, it felt like my entire life shifted. I fell in love with the craft, the connection, and the confidence this career brings not only to my clients, but to me as well. Tha passion is something people can feel when they sit in my chair.
For most of my life, I struggled with believing I wasn't smart enough or that something was wrong with me because learning never came as easily to me as it seemed for others. This industry changed tha perspective entirely. It helped me recognize my strength, build confidence in myself and discover a purpose that fulfills me. I truly believe I would not be the woman I am today without becoming a hairstylist. This industry has given me so much; connection, exercising my creativity, and a sense of belonging.
