About me

Before i get the chance to write about myself I just like to say thank you for taking time out of your day to look on to my canvas me profile. It means the world to me. My name is Catherine, I am born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Fl I am 28 years old and I am a mother to two wonderful kids. Growing up I always have been more on the creative side. I was always drawn to the creative side of life. Painting, drawing, vibrant hair color was my thing. When I noticed I had a thing for hair is when i was in high school dying my own hair and dying my friends hair that's when I knew I'd love to deal with hair. I just love the beauty field. I love to make people feel good and I love to feel good as well. I have been doing hair since 2015 and I can say I am pretty knowledgeable in natural hair silk presses, Hair color and Blow Dries.

Why I'm here

The reason why I am on canvas me is because I'd love an oppurtunity into working in the salon field. I graduated from a beauty school called Empire Beauty School, it unfortunately closed down during covid. But I never got my license, I went to take my state board but unfortunately didn't pass both exams by 5 points. I was young and careless, I was around the wrong crowd wasting time that I didn't even go back to retake it. I freelanced my way around and worked in a beauty shop for about 2 years. I ultimately gave up because i felt like I couldn't do more with my career. I felt like I couldn't grow into the industry and it was because I did not have my license, Years have passed by and it haunted me for years that I never went back to try again to get my license. One day (the mature version of me) told myself to stop feeling bad for myself and just re do everything. That's when I decided to enroll into Paul Mitchell The School and have not regretted it at all. I've learned so much and met wonderful people during this journey. I am scheduled to graduate in January 2024 and I have never been so ready to get my license so I can really progress into my career. I want to show eventually to people never to give up on your dreams. And that its never to late to get an education no matter what your situation is you can get through it. If you put your heart and soul into something you can make anything achievable. I currently am a mother to two wonderful kids and I am a partner I have my hands full but I am so ready to have a job opportunity in the hair field.
