Self Love Soldier

"Without mystery, life shrinks. The completely known is a numbing void to all active minds," wrote E.O. Wilson in his book The Future of Life. The truth is, most of us know very little, whether our plane will stall, if hard rains will fall, if fires will ravage, if blessings will fill our lives, if the road we travel will go unobstructed or fraught with distaster. Even when we think we know something to be fact, the universe has a way of showing us another truth.
My journey in the beauty industry began 12 years ago. I knew very little about makeup yet somehow decided to begin a retail venture selling mineral makeup in the mall. I have had just as many failures as I have had successes. In my earlier years I beleived I knew quite a bit, but it turns out I know very little. The more I fail, learn and grow, the more I realize I don't know. These days I'm happy to not know. An amazing experience for one client may be a terrible experience for the next, an enjoyable work environment for one employee may be unpleasant for the next.
I've spent the past 12 years gathering experiences and data which allow me to approach each encounter with an open mind. I've learned not to project my expectations on people or experiences but rather to let people and experiences be what they are. In this way I am like Alice in Wonderland everyday of my life. I can find wonder in all people and places. Everyday is an adventure.
As a service provider and employer this is so beautiful because I can meet people where they are. I can appreciate them where they're at and accommodate what they need rather than what I need or expect. I love people and have a passion for making people feel loved, comfortable and confident.

"Nobody rides for free, and everyone has a story that will bring you to your knees," Brene Brown.
I love people. I love myself. However, this wasn't always the case. There was a time, years ago, when I didn't love myself. I was super critical and unforgiving to myself and others. It escalated to the point that I didn't want to be here. Over time, and with intention, practice, meditation, self care and help from loved ones, I grew to love myself. Even better, I learned to forgive myself. Then the most beautiful thing happened, I learned to forgive others. Brene Brown, psycologist and author, says that we are all trying our best. This has become one of my favorite mantras and is the center of my why. I have an abundance of compassion and empathy to share with people. I'm here because I love working with people, clients, co-workers, and employees to share my love, compassion and empathy. I never thought I'd be in the beauty industry or own a beauty bar or go to school for esthetics yet here I am and I believe the universe put me here for a reason.
