Derrick Keith was born in Chicago, a child of successful salon owners, he grew up around great talent. This is where he recognized his fondness for the art of hair and fashion.

By age 19, Derrick was on set at Harpo Studios styling Oprah and HARPO celebrity guests. Derrick had a guest appearance on the Oprah show himself and has built an elite clientele working with countless celebrities and brands..

After his successful career at Harpo Studios and as a salon owner, Derrick closed up shop and headed for Paris, France to pursue his knowledge for The Art of hair and fashion .

Working solely as a fashion freelance artist.

Derrick crushed the scene collaborating with Musician, Brands , Tv shows celebrities and several of the industry’s top photographers.

Derrick sees the medium of hair as a material to create simple, thought-provoking styles. In much of his work Derrick fuses the sharp and the bold with the soft and beautiful.

He has led hairstyling teams for numerous fashion shows during fashion week.

Derrick is a firm favorite with numerous celebrities and musicians.

Over his 30 year career Derrick has won numerous awards for his work such as best Video of the year for Black Eye Peas “My Hump” and best Urban Hairdresser of the year. 

Derrick now resides in New York, a daily practitioner of Kundalini yoga, when he’s not creating beautiful looks on set Derrick can be found teaching and creating fresh social media content for @HairStory Studios and @FourteenJay Salon where his dry haircutting and invisible laying technique magic takes place.
