Welcome to my profile, super excited to have you here! My name is Deya, I’m a future professional at Paul Mitchell the School Chicago. Attending cosmetology school has definitely given me a chance to improve my skills but I definitely want to expand my knowledge in hair and makeup furthermore. Look forward to growing and speaking with you all!

I'm here for myself and let me tell you why. It's been such a long awaited time for me to make the decision and commitment to following my passion for all things beauty. Being first generation from an immigrant family, I've always wanted to make my parents proud. I decided the best way to do this was to put my dreams aside and pursue something within the medical field. I applied for the Physical Therapy Assistant program in 2018 at my community college. I was accepted into the program but shortly mid semester I felt in my gut that I hadn't made the right decision for myself. Nonetheless, I put my feelings aside and proceeded with the program for a month to help me establish whether this field was for me or not. Towards the end of the semester I started to look for cosmetology schools near me without letting my parents know, I didn't want them to know unless I was certain of my decision to pursue cosmetology. I fell in love with the beauty industry even more and decided to quit the program. I communicated with my parents regarding the career changes I made and even though they were unsure about it, they still supported my journey. I graduated with my Liberal Studies Associate from Morton College and enrolled at Paul Mitchell the School Chicago in 2020. Due to Covid I wasn't able to start until the year of 2021, however, it was worth the wait. I'm here to chase my dream, I'm here for me.
