I'm Dez, a passionate barber student dedicated to transforming hair with creativity and precision. My approach blends vintage and classic styles with modern techniques, specializing in vivid colors, perms, and unique cuts. As an artist at heart, I bring a personal touch to every haircut, believing that hair is a form of self-expression. With a love for arts and crafts and a background in alternative music, I approach each client's style as a unique canvas waiting to be brought to life.

My journey in barbering is driven by a deep passion for hair artistry and personal transformation. I have always loved the art of altering your look with your hair; whether it is cutting, dying, or styling. Since my first day in barber school, I’ve approached every haircut, hair dye, etc not just as services, but as an opportunities to sculpt confidence and build community. This dedication has cultivated my commitment to honing my skills and creating delux hair experiences.
Growing up, I wasn’t allowed to get haircuts beyond a trim. So naturally, as I got older and started to attend high school, I rebelled and experimented. Freshman year, I learned how to layer my own hair; thank you Youtube! Which did wonders for a good year, until I botched it and accidentally gave myself what is now called The Jellyfish Cut. I didn’t like it, so my parents took me to get it evened out not realizing to even it out would mean it’s going to be Pixie short. From there, I grew bold. After the pixie grew out, I got a fade, mohawk, undercut, and so many others for the next handful of years. I learned how to bleach my hair from my neighbor who did her own hair at home by watching her work it in on her own scalp then mine. From there, I began to play with many, many vivid colors made by Manic Panic. Playing with my hair like this built up my confidence where I had deep rooted insecurities. If I could provide a sliver of the same feeling I get to my future clients, that would make my world!
I thrive off routine and creativity. No matter the day or place, I strive to show up 5-15 minutes early, ready to tackle what is to be expected of me, welcome all my classmates/instructors/staff/clients with utmost positivity and genuine happiness, follow safety and state board standards and protocols, and communicate effectively and, if permitted, constructively. Bouncing ideas off with fellow colleagues fuels the artist in me!
Over the last decade, there have been so many new variations to classic cuts that it’s hard to not find it to be an art form. To sculpt and shape the hair to an individual’s face and head shape along with their features to complement them. Personally, I associate haircutting to wheeling clay. You or the client have an expectation of achieving a specific look, but what if we switched it up and personalize it to them? I mean, how can it not be looked that way?
Like routine and creativity, I also thrive off keeping certain topics off the table with clients (politics being the big one), keeping work life and home life separate, and challenging myself. Without challenge, we don’t grow or improve.
