Dorcas Santiago Ortiz

Hi! It’s me Dorcas Santiago originally from Puerto Rico relocated to Lakewood, WA 4 years ago. I’m currently a student artist finishing in November 2020 the Cosmetology Program at Gene Juarez Academy, South Campus.As a child I fell in love with beauty seeing my mom doing her makeup every morning and spending long hours in the Salon almost every Saturday. I remember how excited I can be on those moments; in my little mind it was something wonderful and BIG, like Magic!!! Now as an adult, it’s my magic that I can perform, create and express. This is what this industry is about, expressing yourself through beauty and making everyone feel the best version of themselves. Glamming and serve others and making them feel good and beautiful leaves me feeling complete and whole. That is where I knew, I need to do this and become a Cosmetologist!!!After 10 years of service in the field of pharmacy as a technician, I learned that serving others is part of who I am and have the opportunity to connect with others, build relations where they can feel like they are cared for. It took me something to realize through my career and life that now it’s the moment to reinvent myself, leave the comfort zone and do and learn more about something I always loved, the beauty industry. I truly believe we are the makers of our own life and happiness. I believe in happiness because makes you be the better you. It feels like this field fits my personality. I always wanted but I never open that door until now, and I am super happy. Enroll in 2019 has been the best decision I made in a while. I am excited for this journey and can not wait for what the future holds.
