About me
I started in the cosmetology program at the Aveda Frederick’s Institute of Indianapolis in October and have enjoyed every minute of it. Before this, I attended Indiana University for two years which is how I was introduced to the city. Those two years of schooling have helped me excel in my year at Aveda by preparing me with scientific knowledge, knowledge about chemistry (and how this relates to color), along with general people skills. I began my life after high school with intense studies for Indiana University, but shortly realized it wasn’t what I loved, cosmetology was. I reconfigured my life and decided it was time to do what truly fuels my fire. Since then, I haven’t even thought about looking back, and I cannot wait for all of the learning opportunities that are ahead of me.

Why I'm here
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been told I needed to go to traditional college and get a bachelors degree in something practical and safe. I was going for a degree in dental hygiene and had put my all into this field since I began. My junior year, I didn’t get into the program , which made me reconsider everything. It was a major set back in my life but, as I stated in my mantra, everything happens for a reason. That alone is how I stayed positive throughout the whole heartbreaking process. I knew my passion was in the cosmetology field but I thought my parents would never support me in a career like that. I finally built up the courage to tell them what my real passion was and they told me if that was something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life then they would support me in that decision. My next move: make history. I moved 3 hours away to Indianapolis after researching which institution would fit me best. Upon my acceptance to Aveda, I started a new, exciting phase in my life that I can’t wait to pursue and continue to learn from in my everyday life.
