About me
Hey, I'm Elena!
I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue my dream of becoming a cosmetologist.
I currently attend AVEDA Arts & Sciences Institute of Atlanta and work at Van Michael Salon as an assistant. Many people are surprised that I would move all the way to Atlanta to attend an Aveda Institute when the original is in my backyard in Minneapolis.
Growing up around the salon industry and working in a salon myself, I found that it is rare to find stylists who know how to work with all types of hair, especially highly textured hair. I often saw people getting turned away from a simple cut or color because no one was equipped with the knowledge to work with their hair type. This never felt right to me.
I am determined to be a cosmetologist who is highly skilled in working with all hair types and textures. I want to be a stylist that is able to make any person who sits in my chair feel beautiful and confident, no matter what their hair looks or feels like.

My dream is to become an influential and highly successful cosmetologist. I have a desire to help people look and feel their best, to increase their self esteem and confidence, and to make a difference in how people see themselves.
Growing up, I often struggled with my own self-image. The one thing that I always felt good about and that always built my confidence was my hair. I often got compliments from other people when it came to my hair, which led me to have a passion for learning about and doing my own hair. That grew into a passion to work on other people's hair.
I have dedicated a lot of time to learning the in's and out’s of cutting, styling, and coloring techniques. I did this by talking to a range of hair professionals, attending a 2 hour, 5 day a week cosmetology course through high school. Now, I grow my knowledge daily working at Van Michael Salon and attending the AVEDA Institute.
I am interested in extending my knowledge and skills further at high level cosmetology classes because it will equip me with exceptional training and skills needed to advance successfully in my cosmetology career.
After graduating from the AVEDA Institute, I plan to work at Van Michael Salons. All 7 locations of this beautiful salon are full of professional and advanced stylists who I can learn and grow from every time I step on the salon floor. I also plan to continue my education with advanced courses in highly textured hair.
