About me
Hello my name is Emily. A little bit about me, I'm from Spanaway Washington. My favorite hobbies are agate hunting (type of rock), four wheeling, going to the ocean, any outdoor activities and sports. I have lived in the same house my entire life. I'm 21 years old, and I'm an only child. My way of connecting with people was through sports. I grew up playing softball from the age of 3 to 20 years old. I played 2 years of college ball, and it was the most memorable experience.
Sports have shaped/taught me many life lessons and has changed my life. My whole life was about sports and that's all I knew. It's pushed me and challenged me physically and mentally. Sports have taught me to push through the difficult times. It's also taught me to never let anyone tell me I can't do something due to my size and shape.
Since College, I've taken the initiative to pursue my dreams of being a hairstylist. I'm currently a student at Summit Salon Academy in Tacoma! I can't wait to take the knowledge and skills that I've learned from here to grow and flourish into the person and stylist I want to be!

Why I'm here
Why I'm here isn't because I've had family in the industry or I knew from day 1 that I wanted to be a hairstylist. I actually had many ideas of what I wanted to do with my life, but the one thing that made feel like my authentic self was hair. I taught myself at a young age off YouTube how to braid and do different styles because my mom only knew how to do a ponytail. In softball, hair is your statement piece, and I wanted to be apart of that. With the hairstyles I created on myself, many of my teammates asked me to do their hair the same way or they would let me practice different styles. Seeing them love what I created on their head, brought me so much joy and confidence. This encouraged me to get into this industry. I knew I had a gift and knew I needed to do something with it. I want everyone that sits in my chair to feel empowered, beautiful and confident when they step out. Hair is something that has endless possibilities and knowledge, and that's the reason I'm here today.
