Emily Rae

Hello! My name is Emily and I am 20 years old. I am currently enrolled for cosmetology at Bella Capelli Academy. A lot of things have happened to get me where I am now. A lot of good, a lot of bad, and yet I wouldn’t change it even had I been given the opportunity to do so. I have anxiety, depression, BPD, and I am a stroke survivor. Growing up, I never really fit in. I never really had a lot of friends. I did have my amazing family though. My cousin was a makeup artist for MAC and really thought I’d love makeup. She made me a cute little bag full of beginner essentials and explained everything to me. I would stay up for hours watching YouTube videos and recreating looks. I would learn new techniques and even adapt them in a way I felt worked or looked better. I started to expand in my interest and begun dying and cutting my own hair, shaping my own eyebrows, doing my own nails, doing my own lash extensions and much more. Through all of this I learned genuine self love. I was finally confident. I didn’t care about “fitting in" anymore, I wanted to stand out. Cosmetology has helped me feel beautiful, and I want nothing more than to help other people discover that self love and confidence within themselves.
