Have faith in God and everything else will fall into place

Hello my name is Genesis Calderon and i'm 19 years old! I was born in California but have lived in San Antonio for 18 years! My family is from GDL, Mexico so my first language is Spanish.
I have 3 older brothers and one younger sister, I've struggled quite a bit to get to where I'm at but I am beyond blessed to have a supportive family. Growing up I always wanted to be creative but I didn't really feel I would be good enough, however watching different people put their artwork was something so inspiring and brave to me and it showed me that if others could do it I could as well. I know now that it's been in me this entire time and I am not going to give up on my dreams, this is my passion and I feel so estatic to be in this industry!

Before I decided to join Cosmetology School, I was very lost and I felt frustrated because I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I was just working at In-N-Out and I hadn't started school because being stuck in a classroom for the next 5-7 years didn't sound very ideal to me. I had struggled quite a bit from the ages 15-18 due to my father passing away, I fell into a huge depression and didn't see my life going anywhere. It wasn't until early last year I found a light in my life and I felt the urge to stand up and do something for myself, so my mom helped me sign up for cosmetology school.
I want to be an inspiration to my little sister and show her that even though I struggled their is always a chance to make it out and do something for your own life, your past doesn't mark your future and there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Being in this industry means a lot to me because it's a place where I know will change me to become more comfortable in who I am and that's all I want to show my little girl!
I was beyond nervous and a bit scared because I had no idea what I was doing but I felt inclined to this career path, I knew that God had a plan for me and I felt safe being here. I found a passion in Colour and it sparked something inside of me and it's helped me grow not only as a future stylist but as a person, I have found confidence in this industry and I could not be more grateful to be in an environment where being different is accepted and encouraged. I cannot wait to one day master colour and eventually open my own salons, I have faith in not only myself, but in God and in my work, I know I can only get better and I believe that one day I will create seamless and beautiful artwork.
