About me
Hello, my name is Jayden Child! I'm currently a second year student at Bellisimo Blu Salon and Academy, located in Highlands Ranch, CO. I am passionate about the cosmetology field and love to express myself through art, specifically makeup. In my future, I hope to specialize in esthetics, especially waxing, eyebrows and eyelashes, and advanced facial services such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and permanent makeup. I plan to continue my education following graduation and licensure in order to receive the necessary qualifications to complete these services. One day, I want to open my own business which provides hair, makeup, and skin services to at-risk communities such as queer and transgender individuals.

Why I'm here
As a child, I had zero interest in beauty. Hair, makeup, and nails were all an afterthought- even at formal events, my appearance meant nothing to me. As I grew up and entered my middle school years, I fell victim to bullying- between discovering I was queer and on the transgender spectrum and being considered the "odd one out" by the majority of my classmates, I found a great amount of solace in self expression in the form of makeup. At first, I only cared about how others perceived me and what I could do to be "prettier". However, as time moved on and COVID struck in my 8th grade year, I discovered that makeup was more to me than how others saw me: it was a way to feel comfortable within a body that never felt quite right. I began cosmetology school in my senior year of high school with one goal: to bring that sense of peace and self-fulfillment that I yearned so strongly for to those who simply couldn't find it for themselves. My mission continues each and every day of my studies and will continue beyond my schooling into my professional career.
