I’m a hairdresser not a miracle worker!

I'm Jen and I have 2 beautiful daughters, after my youngest was diagnosed with autism I realized I needed to find a career that would allow me the flexibility to be able to help her down this path and be there for her therapies that she receives daily. After I started school I fell in love with everything that we learned and everything that I continue getting exposed to as it makes me keep that creative mindset and open to possibilities to expand my horizons.
I started my cosmetology journey after my youngest was diagnosed with autism, I realized I needed to find a career that would allow me the flexibility to be able to help her down this path and be there for her therapies that she receives daily. After I started finding out more about autism I realized there is a huge need for people with autism to have someone they can trust, and someone who will take their sensory needs into consideration when getting a hair cut as it is really difficult for most of the autism community to get anything done to their hair. I started working with my daughters Occupational therapist and also her BCBA to help me find solutions to make it a little more sensory friendly for this community. I would love to learn as much as I can and then make a salon that is very sensory oriented so that it is a safe place for not only the individuals with autism but also for the parents or guardians that bring them in. After I started school I fell in love with everything cosmetology related so I still would love to work with all types of hair, and do lashes, and extensions, but the main reason I am here is to better myself so I can be the best I can to be able to help anyone who sits in my chair.
