Josephine Sabaitis

I spent a few years after high school working retail jobs and in the food industry, feeling like I was just floating through life with no clear direction. After about two and a half years, I decided to tour a few cosmetology schools. As cheesy as it may sound, when I toured Aveda, I felt, for the first time, that I had found a place where I truly belonged. I knew I had to attend this school. I had heard they were starting a class on July 30th, and by this time, it was already towards the end of June or early July. I knew I needed to get into that class, so I did everything I could, even begging my mom to help me. I explained how much I needed to go there, and she graciously helped me get my kit and pay for my first month of tuition to get me started. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I have zero regrets about coming here. I've made lifelong friends—my future bridesmaids—and I've learned so much about myself and the beauty industry. It’s a competitive field, and I know it's not easy, but I will never give up on myself. I’ll keep pushing to be the best I can be every day, for both myself and my clientele. I'm so grateful for my friends who have been with me through it all, and my instructors, who are not just teachers, but my family. They help me get through every week. I can't wait to continue my journey in the beauty industry, and I hope to one day open my own salon!
