Hello! I'm JS, a current student in Aveda Chapel Hill's cosmetology program. I've always enjoyed hair, makeup, and fashion! Growing up, I loved experimenting with makeup, fashion, and hair cuts and colors - many of which I did myself. As I became more experienced and started fitting into specific subcultures, I had many people come to me for advice or help with their own fashion and beauty scenarios. It felt really good to help others create the vision they saw for themselves! This led to me finding a job as a beauty consultant at Target, where I continued to help people discover their best looks, solve their beauty woes, and find the best products to care for their skin and hair. Although it was an engaging and rewarding position, I wanted to seek out a more direct way that I could help nurture people's skin, hair, and confidence. While getting a trim at a local salon, I discussed my history of cutting and coloring my own hair with the stylist, and she told me that I should seek out an education in cosmetology! While this wasn't the first time I'd heard this, I was finally at the right time in my life to pursue it. I decided that Aveda was the best fit for me after a bit of research. Now, I'm expected to graduate in late 2020!
