It’s hard to believe a childhood lesson from my father became my career, but it’s true. Learning to braid was a magical memory but I did not know it could become my career. Transitioning into the world of beauty professionally as an adult was scary but inevitable. After 3 layoffs as a Gemologist, I decided to change careers completely and received my NYS Certification for Natural hairstyling in 2016 followed by my Cosmetology license in 2017. The best part of my career as a freelance stylist now is knowing that I can’t be fired from my passion and talent. It’s hard to imagine my journey is just getting started as a stylist but I wake up every day excited by the support, love and growing network of women that feel valued because of my gifts.
