About Me:
Hi, I’m Kara Hartman! I’m a hairstylist at Penelope June Salon in Greenwood, IN. As a former teacher, I have loved transferring my skills from working with kids to working with clients.
After graduating from Indiana University - Purdue University in Indianapolis with a degree in Secondary Social Studies and Special Education in 2020, I spent four years as a special education teacher. I loved working with my students, but over time, I realized it wasn’t the right fit for me. I started craving a career that would let me focus more on creativity, self-love, and helping people feel confident and beautiful. After much thought and some tough decisions, I decided to transition into the beauty industry—a dream I’ve had since I was little. Starting over hasn't always been easy, but I’m so excited to finally be pursuing the creative career I’ve always wanted.
I’m excited to embrace new opportunities and learn from the many talented people in the beauty industry. The chance to grow and develop my skills while connecting with others in this field is something I’m looking forward to.
Outside of school, I enjoy photography, video games, music, hiking, and traveling. I am also a cat mom and love to spend my free time with them and my amazing fiance.
I can’t wait to continue on this exciting journey, help others feel their best, and grow alongside other amazing people in the beauty community!

I’m excited to embrace new opportunities to expand my network within the beauty industry, connecting with other professionals and brands. I’m eager to enhance my skills, particularly in specialty cuts and color techniques like razor cutting, vivid colors, and blondes, while also deepening my knowledge of the business and marketing side of the industry. I’m ready to grow and take on new challenges that will allow me to advance both creatively and professionally.
