Karen Lauria - Beauty Expert/Content Creator

I love everything to do with beauty. It's amazing helping people feel confident and happy. 

I would like to share my professional journey, which began in seventh grade with an aspiration to enter the beauty industry. My passion led me to enroll in cosmetology school during high school, followed by barber school to obtain a second license. After seven years as a subcontractor, I successfully established my first barbershop.

My career took a new direction when I ventured into acting. My agent suggested I consider providing hair and makeup services for models. This opportunity highlighted a path towards improved compensation, more favorable hours, and increased recognition. To refine my skills in this new craft, I pursued advanced training in Chicago and New York. I then approached my acting agent to represent me as a stylist, which facilitated numerous connections and opened significant doors. Eventually, my styling career flourished to the extent that I was able to transition from the barbershop entirely, utilizing my experience as an actress to enhance my work behind the scenes. In 2016, I started Sparkle & Shine Makeup Studio to help people navigate makeup.
