Helping people see their inner beauty projected on the outside.
Helping people see their inner beauty projected on the outside.
My name is Kate Heaton and I am applying to be a Cosmetologist at your salon. I have a variety of personal and professional reasons for applying to work at your business, but the greatest one is simple; I have a passion for helping people feel good.
Before moving to China in 2013 to teach English, I was a regular volunteer at Project Homeless Connect in Minneapolis. As I escorted clients to various service stations of their choice, I was surprised to learn that the most popular service was hair-cutting. After talking to a variety of clients and other volunteers, I saw how the simple act of getting a haircut can restore a basic sense of human dignity.
I believe that helping people on the outside can help people see the inherent worth and dignity we all have on the inside. This cuts across all barriers and social backgrounds and it’s truly a human universal to participate in the ritual of beauty. I want to get to know clients over the years and see them through all of life’s transitions: marriages, break-ups, new jobs, babies or just a break from the everyday grind. I also highly value the agency that stylists have to meet clients wherever they are.
Your salon, specifically, is the right place for me because of your long-standing history and your commitment to progressive values and service. I know that your business has a stellar reputation and will help me continue to develop my craft. I’ve conducted multiple informational interviews with past and present employers and all have spoken highly of working in your salon.
I am thrilled at the thought of starting a new career this spring and I look forward to all that is in store.
“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, ‘Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.’ I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
