Kiara Mitchell

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and a graduate of Joslin Perspective, I never imagined being a licensed cosmetologist. I wasn't fond of hair styling even though my family members insisted on asking me to. They suggested that I should become a hairstylist repeatedly, but I never took the time to educate myself. Therefore, I lacked the knowledge of knowing the opportunities that could come with this career. Almost everyone in my family either knew how to style hair or actually generated income from styling hair as a side hustle. Me on the other hand...was only be interested in styling my own hair because it was less stressful. Plus, I also enjoyed making my own treatments for the health of my hair. Although I started my own growth products and became interested in the importance of taking care your hair, I still had no desire to be an actual stylist. However, some short time later I decided to enroll into costomlogy school hoping to learn about different hair types, textures, and what works best for hair growth. After a week or two of school, everything clicked and hair became my happy place. I started to fall inlove with doing hair. Never did I imagine saying this, but it's crazy how life works, and I hope my story can help others realize that never know what you like or don't like until you try it!!
