Hi, my name is Lauren, a 24 year old college business graduate currently in cosmetology school! After being diagnosed with endometriosis and undergoing surgeries since I was 14, I knew one thing for sure, I was a warrior and wanted to turn my struggle into strength. During all my darkness, and the pain I felt on the inside, there was one thing that brought me light, and that was beauty. Although I had obstacles that could’ve knocked me down, I always found a way to feel beautiful on the outside. This always built my internal confidence, my motto has always been “look good, feel good”. After graduating college, I started my own business called ‘Thrifty Essentials’, an online and vendor shop of preloved, affordable products with a goal to help decrease fashion waste. The success and sense of achievement that Thrifty Essentials has brought me, as well as the confidence the beauty industry has given me throughout my teenage and adult life, inspired me to begin my journey into becoming a cosmetologist. I want to combine my knowledge in fashion with knowledge in beauty. To help people feel confident and see themselves in their most beautiful form.

My vision hasn’t always been as clear as it is today. I went through trial and error to discover my passion could be my reality. But thats what life is all about, trial and error, ups and downs. One can only rise, if they’ve fallen. But perseverance is my best quality, so I continued to strive towards my future. My medical circumstance made college more challenging for me, and with 3 changes of major, I still achieved my business degree in 4 years. I decided on business due to one factor, I wanted to be my own boss. I’ve always been a leader, and know how to overcome struggle to achieve success. Without conflict and struggle, you’ll never understand the feeling of accomplishment. And the harder you’ve fallen, the stronger you’ll be when you get back up. I love change and learning new skills, beauty gives me the opportunity to embrace that. This industry requires constant improvement and adapting to new opportunities, and that drive is already a part of who I am. I’ve overcome many challenges in my life, and those challenges pushed me to my limits. But I never let those challenges bring me down, I only let them make me stronger. I learned to embrace them. I take advantage of challenges and look forward to the achievement that comes along with it.
