About me

I’m Lily Picard, a senior at U32 Middle and High School. I’ve always struggled academically and had a tough time with school, often arguing with my mom about going. My parents were concerned and I spoke to my counselor, who helped me get tested for learning challenges, revealing I have dyslexia and ADHD. With the support of a 504 plan, I began to improve.

In sophomore year, I learned about a cosmetology program at Central Vermont Career Center. After a successful interview with Ms. Currier, I was thrilled to get accepted. Cosmetology has been a passion of mine; I love doing nails, hair, and makeup. It's also rewarding to help others feel confident and beautiful.

My teacher is incredibly supportive, and I’ve made great friendships in class, even reconnecting with some old friends. Family means a lot to me; I live with my parents and brother, and I have a sister, Ashleigh, who passed away on March 24, 2022. I miss her dearly but know she’s proud of me. Our family is large, and I often run into relatives wherever I go. I also have three dogs: Hunter and Buck, energetic blue heeler hound mixes, and Tilly, a quiet wheaten terrier mix.

Why I'm here

Cosmetology is a career path for me; it is a genuine interest and hobby that brings me immense joy. I find great fulfillment in helping others feel better about themselves through a fresh look, whether hairstyling or makeup application. My love for cosmetology is complemented by my social life, where I enjoy spending time with friends, going out, and doing each other’s nails or hair. Family is also a cornerstone of my life; they mean the world to me. Despite the loss of my sister, who was my very best friend, I carry her memory with pride, believing she would be proud of my journey and growth.
