The Crown You Desire
The Crown You Desire

Ciao! My name is Lydia & I am a self-taught hairstylist, currently earning my cosmo license at Bella Capelli Academy-Paul Mitchell Partner School & a plant mom to 17+ houseplants! I specialize in crown detailing (i.e. braiding & wig construction) but open to all things hair & beauty. My passion and drive is to make sure all that come to get beautified leave with the crown they desire & their true inner glory is revealed— it's all in the details! Fun fact about me is my middle name is "Adewunmi", from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria, and it means "I desire the crown/royalty," so who better to trust with your crown details other than one who's name says it ALL! It's my mission to make sure you go out leaving with an illuminated countenance & an expresso boost of confidence!
Originally I am Penn State Alumna with a B.S. in psychology, if you haven't noticed by now my favorite part of the body is the head.—HA! I never really took my ability & gift of beautifying people through hair as something that was more than a hobby until June 2021. Prior to then, I had stopped doing hair & was focused on my degree & establishing myself a strong foundation in my career in the field of psychology, I had totally put hairstyling in the back burner. In late October 2020, I had resigned from my job after beginning an intense spiritual journey with God & spent the next couple months trying to find a better job & understand my purpose. After many rejections & disappointment, I gave up. As I was beginning to question life & doing a soul search, while asking God what was the next step, I was given the desire to apply for beauty school & pursue licensure. I wasn't too fond of it & all the questions & doubts of establishing a beauty career made me all the more skeptical about it but I knew it was something I had to do. After my resignation, I had no intentions of starting hair again but purpose & destiny tends to always find it's way of being present & taking the spotlight when all is lost, & before I knew it people started inquiring again. You would have thought that the last 6-8 months of doing hair & it's miraculous restart would have been obvious that hair is where I needed to be! If you're someone like me who has a deep attention to detail & is constantly searching for Waldo, missing the bigger picture, remember to drop the magnifying glass & take a step back; behold the masterpiece in its entirety. The answer is sometimes, if not always, right in front of you.
To me, hairstyling & the overall process of beautifying is more than just hair ties, coloring, or a cute new hairdo, it's a personal investment in revealing & sending a message to the world about your true identity. I'm here to support all those who have a message to send & provide a helping hand to those in need of finding & revealing their true selves through hair & beauty.
