Plenty of ups, hundreds of downs, yet it all was 100% worth it. I remember the exact moment, a year ago where I realized I had never fully taken complete control of my path. So I changed everything and I never looked back. This change meant taking risks artistically, monetarily, and so much more. I made the leap of faith for a future for myself and my daughter. Toward something I could be proud of, she could be proud of, and one built on something I loved! How could I preach to a tiny, creative, rainbow loving girl that you can do and be whatever you want in life, if I myself didn’t fully engulf my being in those beliefs?! I was told for years don’t put yourself in a box with those “crazy colors.” They said “you won’t go anywhere just doing that. You have to show people you know other things too.” So I finally stopped over-analyzing and did what I felt was true. When I paint on hair every day it is far from being inside a box. In fact, I feel more outside of the box than I ever have! I am more challenged, more grateful, and more in love with my career than ever! Seeing a different side of someone’s personality shine through their new color is an unbelievable experience for me! I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with some incredible people over the last year, and I can not wait for any opportunity to be surrounded by more. I am the definition of awkward, and that’s ok! I hope to continue to gain more connections with artistic individuals. More connections to challenge me, to continue to help me look outside the box! People to brainstorm with, grow with, support others with, and more than anything, people to learn from along the way!
