Being born with a congenital heart defect, feeling beautiful in my own skin was something I struggled with. Internally, I knew I was healed from the abnormalities I was given, but externally, I was reminded of my insecurities with my scar. Growing up, beauty standards were constantly changing, and so was my skin. Not only did my scar lighten with more sun exposure, but so did my heart. The beauty industry has helped me not only feel confident in my skin but also love the imperfections that come along with it.
