Why I'm here

Hello, I am Mrs.Octavias Gatson! I attend Ogle School of Hair, Skin, and Nails in Fort Worth,TX. I was born in Atlanta, GA at Grady Memorial Hospital but spent a majority part of life growing up in Shreveport, LA. I believe in the future of the hair industry, and I am so honored to be a part of it. As a kid growing up, I learned how to braid hair, and it was then, that I found out that those skills would expand my horizon for a greater purpose.

What is so exciting to me about obtaining a career in the cosmetology industry, is that I get to showcase and promote my many talents. I get to be my authentic self while meeting beautiful individuals each day. With my abilities and creativity, I pray that I leave a lasting impression on each client that I encounter. In this field not only do I get to educate my clients, but I get to know them as well. I get to learn all of their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their hair and help them find solutions to all of their hair care needs. When it comes to chemicals or certain styles; as a stylist I have to ask specific questions, so I don’t mind getting in deep conversations with my clients. Those conversations are important to me whether it’s big or small!

I entered this field to study the history of cosmetology. It provides me with continuous education that will never go out of business, from braiding hair, weave extensions, haircuts, perms, relaxers, natural hair, and color. You can specialize in just about anything including nails, makeup, and waxing. The cosmetology field makes it easy for students to excel in a career and be successful in various ways.

I chose the field of cosmetology because there are people who lack the knowledge about hair maintenance and fail to have a daily routine. Being an educated stylist, I am prepared to help clients to achieve realistic goals while reaching a more diverse clientele of a wide age range. In return this will help me to give back to the less fortunate and elderly by offering free but limited hair care services. One day I plan to own a successful salon where my desire is to employ people who share the same interest and passion as I do when it comes to this field. Just because you’re good doesn’t mean you’ll perform great. I plan on exceeding the expectations.

In conclusion, I love everything about the cosmetology field. The hair, skin, nails, personal conversations and the joy of seeing my clients face after I’m done! Times are changing but yet somehow history still repeats itself. One thing that will always be in style is how a person’s beauty can be enhanced with a simple hairstyle and makeup. No matter the decision I want to make sure that I am apart their journey!
