Olive Phelps-Johnson

For as far back as I have memory, I had a desire to be a hairstylist. I started my career working at a large high end salon that prided itself on its riggous apprenticehip program as well as conistent continuing education for all of its stylist. I worked there for almost 9 years, and during that time recieved training from L'Oreal Professional, Amika, Oribe, Mizani, Kevin Murphy, Kerastase and more. Within all of the education I have been blessed with over my carrer, I noticed a common theme that started all the way back in Cosmetology School, not enough education on all texture types. I decided if I want to see it, I better be ready to be it, and began a career as a licensed cosmetology instructor in MN where I have a passion for equiping our fututre generations of beauty professionals with foundation of basic competency in all textures of hair. I also still work behind the chair in a suite, and will be educating for Mizani in the future as one of their Mizani Artists! I believe beauty professionals have some of the most underrated yet most impactful interpersonal relationships of any career field and I am excited to continue watching those relatioships build lasting changes in the world we share.
