I’ve always had a passion for hair. I could remember being about five years old and watching my sister braid her friend’s hair all the time, and it simple just amazed me. I was always trying to mimic things she did and from that point on, every change I got I try to play in someone’s hair, whether it was my mom, sister, dolls. Every change I got that’s what you saw me doing. Until finally when I graduated from high school and I notice college wasn’t the route I wanted to go. I kept the promise to myself and went to hair school. I went full time and graduated in 8 months, and in no time landed a job at Drybar. After working there for some time, I came across a client who needed her hair some. She voiced to me that her husband was dying, and she just needed a moment to her self after being in the hospital for some days now. I told her how sorry I was and couldn’t imagine what she was going through, but I reassured her she was in good hands and I would try my best to make her feel relax and good and to get her mind off reality. I vowed to myself after I graduated hair school that every client, I came across I would try my best to make whatever type of day they were having better than when they stepped foot though any door of the salon I was working at. My mission was to make women feel beautiful and happy. We did just that, I gave my client a glass of champagne talked her hair off about other topic had her laughing and smiling, and once I was done and I spun her around in that salon chair, her eyes just lit up with how she looked. Her smile matched finally with how she felt and on top of that I spoke with my manager to see if we could comp her service today after I told her the bad new which what my client was dealing with, and she agree, on top of her feeling and now looking great I brought even more joy and good news to her by letting her know that that I wanted to gift her this service. She was so thankful and hugged me and shed some tears. And that right there are the moments I live for in this business. If I can make anyone’s day greater than what it was, than I felt like I served my purpose. The joy I see in people’s eyes and the feel of hair running through my hand is the reason why I love this industry and it truly brings joy to me.
