I am Paula Henson. I am 22, and just now figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I have always had a creative streak, from making tie dye shirts, to photography. My heart is in arts and I like being able to freely express myself. I was never fully able to draw, but through my photography I was able to express myself in the ways I needed to. My grandmother always tells me stories about her beauty shop, and her love of being a beautician before she had children. I have discovered that I love doing hair also. I love helping people feel good about themselves, and the confidence it brings them. I’ve done hair unprofessionally since I was in middle school. I loved to dye my friends hair funky colors. I was always the chosen hair colorist in the friend group. Creating new looks for my models in my photography, made me realize how much I enjoyed the hair and make up side of photography even more that the photography it's self. I am ecstatic to be pursuing my dream career.

It has been a dream of mine to be able to do what I love for “work” for me it’s definitely expressing myself through my crafts, and art. I wanted to be able to strengthen my photo eye and be able to create what I’m envisioning in my mind, and bring it into the physical world. Ultimately I’d love to be a fashion/beauty photographer for magazines, while doing the hair and make up for my models. I chose to go into the beauty industry to fully understand the, behind the scenes artistry of hair and makeup, and to be able to create, and produce what I see in my mind. No one can truly articulate exactly what they envision in their mind, you have to be able to create it yourself. The hair and make up skills will enhance my photography, and help me create unmatched one of a kind photographs. Hair, make up and fashion choices will always be very important pieces of what makes someone look and feel good, because when you know you look great, the confidence shines through. I am here to learn as much as I can to be able to feel more confident in my abilities. I am working towards a model of continuous self improvement in life. There always is, and always will be something more to learn and grow as a person, stylist and artist.
