Every Head gets Special Attention!

My name is Rakiah Minley, and I am a 29-year-old barber student with a passionate focus on natural hair care and textured hair maintenance. From a young age, I was inspired by my aunt, a professional beautician, who created a welcoming, professional environment that left clients confident and satisfied. Watching her work sparked my curiosity and creativity, and I began teaching myself to braid and care for my own curls. Over time, through practice, research, and countless tutorials, I mastered techniques like twist-outs, flat twists, and bantu knots, learning firsthand the importance of understanding and responding to hair’s unique needs. This journey shaped my commitment to helping clients embrace the beauty, strength, and versatility of their natural hair.
What drives me as a barber student is the combination of artistry, technical precision, and discipline. I dedicate countless hours outside of class to practice, refine, and perfect my skills—approaching each technique with focus and accountability. I actively contribute to my school community by collaborating with peers, sharing knowledge, and supporting others in their growth. Through these efforts, I demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to continuous learning.

My goal is to elevate the barber and beauty industry by promoting education, inclusivity, and healthy hair practices. In the next few years, I see myself mentoring others, providing expert care for natural hair, and leading by example through service, creativity, and innovation. I am committed to using my skills and passion to make a meaningful impact—empowering clients, inspiring peers, and contributing to the evolution of our craft.
