I grew up in a very artistic home in Hazel Green, Alabama. My parents were always open to everything I did and supported me, even when they knew that the passion would die out. I started high school with the thought of being a cardiovascular surgeon and then my school introduced a cosmetology course. I was always into hair and makeup, so I took it, not really thinking about making a career out of it. My junior year of high school, in between stressing about my ACT scores and what the dress I was going to wear for prom, I fell in love with doing hair and makeup.

My aunt was a cosmetologist and I grew up being used as a live manikin while I did hair on my dolls. When I got older and started playing sports, I became the team braider, if anyone needed their hair braided, they would come to me for it. When I decided to go to cosmetology school and not medical school, my dad told me he wasn't surprised and then preceded to buy my first actual manikin.
