Rebecca Simon

 My name is Rebecca, I am 20 years old and I am an esthi student at Aveda. I was born in Las Vegas and moved to Florida about 12 years ago. Ever since I was a little kid, I had been into makeup and beauty. I would steal my mom's makeup and put it all over my face, i would also get those toy makeup kits from Claire's or from the kids section at Target. 

When I got into 4th or 5th grade, after much convincing my mom finally let me get more "adult" makeup from MAC or Sephora. My mom was never a big makeup person so I learned my makeup skills from youtube tutorials and beauty influencers on Instagram or just social media in general. 

I went through a really rough period in my life and makeup was one of the things that I could turn to when I needed a break. It allowed me to express myself and let my creativity flow. Once I got comfortable doing my own makeup, I started doing my mom's makeup or my friend's makeup. When I got into high school, I knew I wanted to be a makeup artist. Going to a regular 2 or 4 year college wasn't for me and while I was interested in other career paths, nothing called to me more than makeup and the beauty industry did. 

Makeup to me is not only a place where I can express myself but also a place of confidence and self discovery. My goal is to help others feel more beautiful and confident with themselves because I know what it feels like to have low self esteem and it's an awful feeling. I want people to feel empowered with their makeup even if the makeup look is an SFX look.
