Why I'm here seems like a simple question but in reality it is way deeper for me. When I was 9 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called lupus. I was an extremely sick child and in the hospital for most of my childhood. I needed to find an outlet for myself, and for me that was hair and makeup. My family would bring me bags of hair tools and makeup bags which then turned into my nurses, doctors, and caregivers to bring me stuff as well. Doing hair was the only time I felt somewhat normal. It was the only time I felt I could express myself. I eventually was able to play with other kids hair and makeup on the floor my room was on and that is when everything clicked for me. Now as a 9 year old I obviously was no professional and everything I did was for fun, but seeing how happy I made other kids like me feel when i finished their hair or makeup was a very eye opening experience for me. I realized all I wanted to do was make people feel amazing about themselves. What better profession to go into then making people feel beautiful and building up others confidence. It truly is the most rewarding feeling to see how amazing people feel after a service. That is why I'm here today, I strive to be a day maker for the rest of my life.
