Sara Mattox

Hello, I am Sara Mattox, a student at Aveda Fredric's Institute of Indianapolis, Indiana. I am 20 years old and currently a senior at Aveda . I have always known that I have had a deep connection to the beauty industry, specifically hair and makeup. As a kid, I grew up with a difficult childhood, in which it made me have to grow up quicker than your usual individual. After watching my father work through family issues, I learned how to have grit and perseverance in an industry that isn't always inviting. After struggling with mental health issues, I found a passion for hair because I recognized how much my hard work could make another person smile. I never realized the power a good haircut and hair color could have on a client. I started working at a high end salon called H2H prior to the start of my time at Aveda. Through my time and experiences at H2H salon, my co-workers have helped expand my passion for the industry. This salon has helped ignite my desire to learn more about hair everyday. I live and breathe the beauty industry everyday and have finally found the place that I belong.
