Sarah Dixon

Since I was a young girl I always knew I loved hair. My mom had always done my hair and I thought it was so fun. My friends and I would spend hours doing each others hair. We would even go as far as haircuts and coloring. When I was close to graduating high school I had looked into a ton of different cosmetology schools. I told my parents of some ideas I had for my future. My mom was supportive but my dad wanted me to go to a 4 year college. I was unsure what to do and ended up going to a college in Rexburg, Idaho. I took business classes knowing that ultimately my goal was having my own salon. I constantly found myself in the cosmetology schools, getting appointments and taking tours just wishing I was there. I soon met my husband and he encouraged me to follow my dreams and start at Paul Mitchell in Rexburg Idaho. I am now 22 and started my cosmetology dreams in January 2022. I only wish that I had started earlier, but I can't help but think I was meant to start now because of the things I have learned, confidence I have gained, and inspiring people I have met and have beside me. 

I am applying for this canvasme scholarship in hopes of peace of mind and the means for more opportunities. The money will help me with my tuition, but I also hope to use it for beauty supplies that I want to get into. I want to take hair extension classes, nail art classes, get eyelash supplies, and much more. With both me and my husband being students it is hard to find extra money specifically for more training and beauty supplies. I hope you will consider me.
