About me

I'm a passionate Barber Stylist in training, dedicated to honing my craft and exploring the creative possibilities of hair design. Beyond hair customization I have an artistic drive to customize clippers and trimmers along with hair. I bring a unique creative and technical approach to my work. Currently enrolled at Paul Mitchell, I'm committed to learning and growing in the beauty industry, constantly experimenting with techniques, color, and styling to push the boundaries of traditional barbering. I am very detail oriented and use that to constantly seek the "why". I grow and excel faster than others because I incorporate what I learn immediately to become better than I was yesterday.

Why I'm here

I’ve had a long journey to arrive in the hair industry. I had a hard time finding what I wanted to do with my life. I have so many interests, talents, and skills that gave me too broad a scope of possible career fields to pursue. I tried many different paths but reaching a plateau and stagnating. It wasn’t my wife, who is a cosmologist, suggested and encouraged me to pursue hair that I found a career that fulfills all my wants and needs in a career. Since the hair industry is always changing and evolving, I can always be learning and growing as a stylist. Gone of the days of maxing out my knowledge and abilities in a career and leaving the gatekeeping to the higher ups. I can continuously hone my skills and increase my knowledge. I get to implement my attention to detail and drive for precision and efficiency every day.

Problem solving. Oh how I love problem solving and the hair industry offers a never ending supply. How to replicate hair cuts and styles, and obtaining colors that wanted by clients. It keeps me sharp and driven to learn and hone my skills.

The ability to be creative is a key component that has been missing in almost every job I’ve had. When I was younger and just out of high school I pursued artistic career paths. Nothing I tried was the right fit and it slowly was put in a box for later but always nagged me telling me it needed to be let out. Hair allows me to let it out and work alongside the other skills and talents that are important to me.

Throughout my career journey I have been continuously reminded about how much I enjoy helping others. In all my roles that required me to teach new employees or help fix problems, I learned that not everyone learns the same way. Since I love problem solving, I really enjoy finding different ways to teach and see their “ah ha” moments when finally having a concept click in their mind. At this moment I’m not sure how I want to implement this in my long term career, but for now I have found enjoyment in helping my fellow students when I see them struggling or when they ask for some help. I want everyone to be the best they can be and if I can help, I will.
