Livin’ For The Vivids

Hello, my name is Sierra Defoe.
I attended the Aveda Institute-Brandon in June 2022 - August 2023. While I explored other careers, I chose to pursue cosmetology because it is my ultimate passion, and my purpose.
Aveda spoke to my heart because of their mission statement. The points of difference for me were the philanthropy and continuing education. I want to be the difference in peoples lives and I will always be working to my fullest potential to service my community by furthering my education, as I strive to gain knowledge and better my techniques in this field.
Supporting and servicing my community are my top priorities. I was previously a board member and volunteer for a nonprofit organization called Red Tent Initiative located in Lakeland, Florida. We help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by relocating survivors to safe homes, assisting with supplies (feminine care and home essentials like clothing and furniture), and by aiding survivors with referrals for better opportunities.
Along with these survivors, I am also very proud to be part of and support the LGBTQ+ community by creating a safe space for everyone who sits in my chair.
Helping people to be the best versions of themselves not only fills my cup but my heart as well.

For the first time in my life I found something that I'm passionate about and talented at.
Cosmetology is not just about making people look subjectively beautiful. It's about making people feel confident while feeling beautiful. It's about helping people feel empowered.
