Sophia Rose Thornton

I was raised in a salon. My mother was a licensed cosmetologist. I had my hair done every morning as a child. My toes and fingers were always covered in pink lacquer. I grew up self-assured. I was raised to make others feel appreciated. In life, I had a significant challenge that depressed me. The word "fat" is derogatory and unsightly in today's society. Unfortunately, I was overweight.I always felt pressured to wear the nicest clothes, have the most beautiful hair, and have the cleanest nails. I hoped my appearance would draw attention away from my physique.

I received my diploma from Saint Clairsville High School in 2024. Attending a cosmetology school was my goal. Making people feel good about themselves is something I love to do. Because I was acting so confidently, I thought I couldn't. I made the decision to improve myself. I began school in August after undergoing surgery in June. In that period, I have shed sixty pounds. I felt invincible. As of January 2025, I still haven't stopped! I'm finally the person I want to be! I may therefore assist others in becoming the individuals they desire to be.

Clients often share their entire life story when they sit in my chair. It's usually negative. In order for them to leave feeling well both psychologically and physically, I try to keep the discourse upbeat. I don't want anyone to experience the same emotions I felt, or worse. Our worst critics are ourselves.

Attending school no longer seems like a hardship. I adore being there! I'm surrounded by good vibes. Changing your appearance for enjoyment isn't the only use of cosmetology. Soul treatment, that is. I am able to assist others. This is why cosmetology excites me.
