About me

My name is Tamara . I am an African American female who is tall and enthusiastic. Although these varying attributes clearly identify who I am physically, who I am as a person is an individual who embodies strength, love, and an overwhelming need to help others. As I write this, I cannot help but begin to feel relieved. Only I am able to define myself and express myself in a way that clearly depicts who I am. Who I am, is someone that knows who they are. I heard somewhere that what you receive in life, is what you transfer unto others. Love surrounds me, warming the depth of my heart inside .As Laughter fills my body, cleansing me of any negativity. Honesty keeps me humble, ensuring that I am able to vividly see the light that many individuals hold deep inside of them. I have been through many life-changing circumstances, and because of those particular events, I believe that I have subconsciously been shaped into a stronger young woman.

Why I'm here

Since I was a young child, I was always interested in the beauty industry. Over the years, I’ve seen how beauty increases one's self esteem , and allows women like myself to think more positively about themselves. There are so many adversities in the beauty industry , especially having kinky, curly, coiled 4b/4c hair. I have this love/hate relationship with my hair but my hair defines who I am. My hair empowers me to move through the world with confidence and grace. The life my hair leads is her own creation. Growing up as a child, with my type of hair, was difficult at times, especially in the early 2000’s. Natural hair was not as popular and prevalent in today’s society. Throughout grade school, it was normal to have your hair straighten all the time because it was more acceptable in “mainstream society”. As time progressed, I educated myself about natural hair through YouTube tutorials or even going to a hair salon with a family member. Over the years, I have learned patients, I’ve gained knowledge, and skills that would allow me to be comfortable with who I truly am. This is really what inspired me to start pursuing hair, I love the way my hair felt when it was healthy and strong, I loved the way it felt when I was able to retain length without seeing single strands, split ends, and of course overall dry and brittle hair.
