My journey into the world of hair was very non-traditional. It may sound cliche but the day I decided to pursue hair was the day that I felt like I could finally breathe! I've always loved hair since I was a little girl. I wanted to go to cosmetology school but instead decided on college because I thought it was the "right" thing to do. So for years, I put hair on the back burner and focused on what I thought I should be doing, which was a career in media. I did that for about seven years until I finally decided to take the leap. But, like most things in life nothing is ever that simple. After devising an exit strategy, saving for months, and drafting my resignation letter I found out I was pregnant. I felt like maybe this was the universe telling me to abandon my plan but this was my TEST. My belly and I enrolled in school and the rest is history. Today, I am most passionate about teaching textured clients about healthy haircare practices. Many textured clients fall prey to misinformation as a result of being neglected by the mainstream beauty industry. As a result, many are falling victim to alopecia and it is my goal to alleviate this through education.
